Why choose reusable coffee capsules? Testimonials from satisfied users
Why they adopted reusable coffee capsules (and will never go back)
At Caf'écolo, we had the pleasure of chatting with Claire and Thibault, a couple in their thirties who decided to rethink their consumption habits… right down to their coffee break. Convinced users of Cafécolo reusable coffee capsules , they explained how this small change has had a big impact on their daily lives – and on the planet.
Why did you decide to switch to reusable capsules?
Claire: “To be honest, it all started with a realization during lockdown. We were each drinking two or three coffees a day, and one day, while emptying the bin, we realized how many disposable capsules we were consuming between the two of us. It was shocking.”
Thibault: “We were already trying to make an effort: composting, bulk buying, local products… But these aluminum or plastic capsules were a real problem. We figured there had to be an alternative.”
And that's where you discovered Caf'écolo?
Thibault: “Yes, while searching online, we came across a blog article about reusable stainless steel capsules. And in the comments, several people mentioned Cafécolo. We liked the brand's transparent approach, the compatibility tests , the videos, and the fact that it's designed to last.”
Claire: “What appealed to us was also the simplicity. You don't need to be a barista or have professional equipment. We got a small hand grinder, we buy organic ground coffee or grind it ourselves, and in a few seconds it's ready.”
Was there an adjustment period?
Claire: “Honestly, very little. You just need to get the hang of tamping it down properly, but after two or three tries, it was done. And now it's become a ritual we love: we choose our coffee, we fill it, we press… it's almost meditative!”
Thibault: “And in terms of taste, it's incomparable. We're no longer limited to industrial ranges. We can try coffee from Ethiopia, Peru, full-bodied or fruity blends. We've rediscovered coffee.”
Have you noticed any savings?
Thibault: “Oh yes! We did the calculations: before, we were spending around 30 to 40 euros per month on capsules. Now, with loose coffee, we're around 10 to 15 euros. So the initial investment is quickly recouped.”
Claire: “And what’s more, it’s zero waste . We empty the grounds into our compost, rinse the capsule, and we’re good to go again. No plastic, no aluminum. We feel good doing this daily thing.”
What message would you like to send to those who are still hesitating?
Claire: “Try it at least once. It's not more restrictive, it's more economical, more ecological, and so much more satisfying.”
Thibault: “And if you're worried about it being incompatible with your machine, the compatibility test on the Caf'écolo website is great. In two clicks, we knew it was OK for our Nespresso Inissia.”
One last word?
Claire: “Changing a habit, even a small one, can have a real impact. Reusable capsules may seem like a small detail… but it’s a detail that makes sense.”
